What is an IGI Certificate?

What is an IGI Certificate?

What is Lab-Grown Diamond Certification?

A lab-grown diamond certification is an impartial report provided by a third-party laboratory. Since the lab has no involvement in the diamond’s sale, it offers an unbiased evaluation of the stone’s characteristics, such as cut, color, and clarity. Every lab-grown diamond should have a certification, ensuring transparency and quality.

What is IGI Certification?

The IGI (International Gemological Institute) certification is widely regarded as the best for lab-grown diamonds. It offers consistent and reliable grading across the industry, making it easier for consumers to compare and ensure they’re getting high-quality diamonds.

Diamond Certificates- A Quick Guide on IGI, GIA & HRD

What About GIA Certification?

The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) is renowned as the gold standard for diamond grading, especially for natural diamonds. However, GIA has only recently begun grading lab-grown diamonds, so GIA-graded lab diamonds are still rare. Most lab-grown diamonds are certified by IGI (International Gemological Institute), which is widely trusted and provides all the essential grading details needed for comparison.

At Karat Lab, we exclusively offer IGI-certified diamonds, each of which comes with an IGI Laboratory Grown Diamond Report. Additionally, all IGI diamonds are laser-inscribed with a report number and “lab grown,” ensuring authenticity without affecting the diamond’s appearance or brilliance. Also, the certificate can be verified on the IGI website here.
